CM Sindh orders inquiry of silver necklace theft from Hindu Temple

KOTRI: Soon after the news of the alleged theft of at least two silver necklaces and cash from the Hindu temple, Sindh top minister Murad Ali Shah has on Friday taken cognizance of the incident and has ordered an inquiry into the matter, ARY News reported.

An FIR has been lodged into the matter on the instructions of CM Murad Ali Shah following which the geo-fencing of the radius is being carried out.

The alleged theft was materialized via the landing from the roof of the temple, the police said and added that the thieves took off with the necklaces on the Hindu gods’ idols locked inside showcases.

According to the reports emerging from the area, the two silver necklaces are worth about Rs40,000, the CM said in the briefing. Separately he said the theifs have also breached the charity vault and took off with Rs20,000 in cash as well.

It is one of our core responsibilities to safeguard our minorities, said CM Sindh.

The incident of theft has happened ahead of the Hindu festival of Diwali scheduled to take place on Nov 4. The provincial government has announced holiday for the Hindu community workforce for their festival.
